Pune, 9th June 2025: The administration itself had to experiment with rat control at the Pune Municipal Corporation's Yashwantrao Chavan Theatre in Kothrud. The administration, which was shocked by the shocking incident of a rat entering a theatre actress's clothes while the play was on, carried out a deep cleaning campaign here as well as at the Balgandharva Theatre.

The administration, which often wastes time and ignores problems, had to take steps to control rats, cockroaches, roaches, and mice. As a part of this, 'pest control' work was also undertaken.

The issue of cleanliness and inconvenience in the theatres of the municipal corporation's city has come to the fore. Artists and fans are frequently troubled by this. In the past, theatre lovers have had to face many problems such as the air conditioning system in the theatres being shut down, the sound system being stolen, broken chairs not being repaired, and water leakage.

Due to lack of coordination between the cultural, building design and electrical departments of the Municipal Corporation, these incidents are happening frequently.

Due to extreme unsanitary conditions, the nuisance of rats and mice has increased, and theatre lovers have started facing problems with cockroaches and bedbugs. Despite many complaints from citizens, the theatre management has taken a stand of ignoring these incidents, saying that they are minor.

A few days ago, many spectators saw a rat roaming around the auditorium before the play started at the Yashwantrao Chavan Theatre, but they thought it would disappear after the play started. In fact, a rat got into the clothes of a spectator while the play was going on, which shocked the audiences.

After that, there was a wave of criticism of the municipal administration. As a result, senior officials also had to take note of it. To prevent such a thing from happening again, the auditorium, stage, artists' rooms, toilets, and the premises of the theater building in the Chavan Theatre and Balgandharva Theatre were cleaned.

Pune Municipal Corporation has undertaken a complete cleanliness drive in all theatres and cultural centres. This work has been completed in Yashwantrao Chavan Theatre and Balgandharva Theatre. To prevent rats from bothering theatres, consideration will also be given to controlling the bringing of food items into the auditorium.
