Pune: Over 180 stranded from Dubai return on a chartered flight

Pune: A chartered flight carrying over 180 stranded people in Dubai arrived in Pune. Among the passengers, 83 are the residents of Pune whereas 23 belong from other towns in the state and nine are from other states.

The expected arrival of the flight was 12.40 pm but it was delayed by 30 minutes. All travellers who reside in Pune have been sent to institutional quarantine at hotels arranged which are arranged by the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC).

After the arrival, all travellers underwent thermal screening with the officials of customs, immigration and Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) were given the PPE kit.

The travellers from the cities such as Mumbai, Nashik, Thane, Ahmednagar, Aurangabad, Kolhapur and Sangli as well as from the states such as Karnataka, Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh have also been sent home.

A 44-year-old, Dubai-based businessman Rahul Tulpule. He is the Vice-President of the Maharashtrian Business Forum. He stepped in to coordinate the return of hundreds of Indians stranded and registered with the Indian diplomatic mission in the UAE and Ministry of External Affairs to fly back to their respective destinations such as Pune and Mumbai.

Sanjay Patil, Deputy RTO, Pimpri-Chinchwad, “We arranged for six PMPML buses for Pune, six MSRTC buses for other districts and cabs for some passengers who asked for it. We have checked all vehicles going outside from Pune.”

Earlier, the Indian government had started Vande Bharat Mission to help return the stranded people of India.
