The Wadgaon Sheri-based builder had installed 61 advertisement boards, each measuring 3x5 feet, on streetlights along Nagar Road under the Yerawada-Wadgaon Sheri ward office.

The boards were installed between August 7 and August 31. Since the advertisements were put up despite an earlier PMC action, the civic body imposed a penalty of ₹2,000 per board per day, resulting in a total fine of ₹30.50 lakh.

In another case, a builder in Magarpatta installed 25 advertisement boards between September 5 and September 7 under the Hadapsar-Mundhwa ward office.

The PMC calculated the penalty at ₹2,000 per board per day and imposed a fine of ₹1.50 lakh.

PMC officials said advertisements cannot be installed on streetlights or other public infrastructure without permission. The civic body had already taken action against the illegal boards, but the advertisements were put up again.

Sandeep Kadam, Deputy Commissioner of the PMC Sky Sign Department, said the two builders were fined around ₹32 lakh for repeated violations.

He said the offenders have been given seven days to pay the penalties. If the amount is not paid within the deadline, the PMC will place a charge on their properties and recover the money through property tax.

The civic body has also warned that unauthorised advertisements on public infrastructure will continue to face action.
