During a review meeting at the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) on October 19, officials directed agencies to complete pending work and improve road conditions before the Pune Grand Tour 2027 cycling event in January.

Senior officials reviewed road development work along the District Court–Balewadi stretch of Metro Line 3, focusing on Ganeshkhind and Baner roads. The meeting discussed uneven road surfaces, damaged medians, traffic management and road safety.

“Ganeshkhind Road is part of the Pune Grand Tour cycling route. Metro construction in the area has caused inconvenience, and the road surface is uneven with damaged medians. All pending work must be completed immediately, and the quality of the work must be maintained,” Ram said.

He directed the concerned agencies to ensure that road surfaces are level, medians are repaired and all work meets the required quality standards.

The authorities have set deadlines for completing road improvements along the cycling event's route.

  • November 30, 2026: Repair of central medians and completion of pending work along the approximately 4.5-km Pune Grand Tour route.

  • December 31, 2026: Completion of remaining road development work and necessary improvements along Ganeshkhind and Baner roads.

The deadlines are intended to ensure that the roads are safe and ready before the cycling event.

A joint monitoring team comprising PMC's road department, PMRDA, Tata Projects and traffic police will oversee the pending work. The team will regularly review progress and submit weekly reports to senior officials.

Officials have also directed agencies to clear construction debris, excess materials and obstructions from footpaths along the Sancheti Hospital–Balewadi stretch.

Unnecessary materials, barricades and signboards at completed work sites must be removed within a week. The meeting also emphasised improving pedestrian facilities, cycle tracks, major junctions and U-turns to make the roads safer and more accessible.
