Pune, 23 July 2025: Every year during the monsoon, city roads in Pune deteriorate rapidly. Despite the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) spending crores annually on road surfacing, potholes soon reappear, leading to traffic disruptions, accidents, and public inconvenience. Citizens often struggle to register complaints or find that their issues are ignored even after reporting.

To tackle this, PMC has developed a new mobile application named ‘PMC Road Mitra’, which will allow citizens to directly report potholes. The app enables users to upload two to three live photos or a video of the pothole along with its exact GPS location. The photos must be taken on the spot, previous or saved images cannot be used, ensuring the complaint reflects the ground reality.

Once a complaint is submitted, it will automatically reach the concerned junior engineer for action. After the pothole is repaired, uploading ‘after’ photos will be mandatory, giving citizens a transparent way to confirm whether their complaint was resolved.

Previously, citizens complained that grievances submitted via PMC Care app or social media were closed without action. This app aims to eliminate that loophole through better documentation and traceability. It will soon be available for download on the Play Store and designed to be user-friendly.

PMC’s road department officials and even the Commissioner will have access to the live status of complaints, making the system more accountable.

“The app will be easy for citizens to use and can be downloaded from the Play Store. The complaint status will be visible not only to the Commissioner but also to road department heads".
