Pune, 3rd August 2026: Pune Traffic Police have launched a strict action against heavy vehicles violating no-entry restrictions during peak traffic hours. Cases have been registered against drivers of RMC mixers, dumpers, tractors and trailers found operating on busy city roads despite the ban.
The action is aimed at preventing road accidents and easing traffic congestion during the city's busiest hours. Authorities said heavy vehicles continue to enter restricted routes despite existing traffic regulations, posing risks to commuters.
Traffic police carried out enforcement drives in Wanowrie, Mundhwa, Deccan, Lashkar, Bharati Vidyapeeth and Bopodi.
In Wanowrie, six RMC mixer and dumper drivers were booked near Bhairoba Nala and Golibar Chowk for violating no-entry orders. Lashkar Traffic Police also registered a case against an RMC mixer driver at Indira Gandhi Chowk.
In the Mundhwa, three mixer truck drivers were booked after they allegedly entered the restricted stretch between Mundhwa Chowk and Tadigutta Chowk during prohibited hours, reportedly on the instructions of their employer.
Meanwhile, Deccan Traffic Police took action against an RMC mixer driver on Prabhat Road, while Bharati Vidyapeeth Police booked another driver near Katraj Junction.
In a separate case, Khadki Police registered an offence against a trailer driver who allegedly caused the death of a two-wheeler rider after a collision at Bopodi Chowk.
Police said the enforcement drive against heavy vehicles violating traffic rules will continue and warned transport operators and drivers to strictly follow no-entry restrictions to ensure safer roads and smoother traffic movement.
Heavy vehicles are prohibited from entering major roads in central Pune during the following hours:
Morning: 8:00 am to 12:00 noon
Evening: 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm
Traffic Police have urged transporters and drivers to plan vehicle movement outside these restricted timings to avoid legal action.
