Pune, 1st June 2026: The Crime Branch and Pune Police rescued a one-year-old girl who was abducted from the Pune railway station within 16 hours. Three people, including a woman accused of carrying out the kidnapping, were taken into custody from the Daund railway station.
According to police, the child and her parents were sleeping in an open space near Shri Datt Mandir outside Pune railway station on the night of May 30.
The accused allegedly kidnapped the girl while her mother was asleep beside her. After noticing the child missing, the mother immediately approached Bundgarden Police Station and filed a complaint.
Police teams launched a large-scale investigation and checked CCTV footage from nearly 65 locations around the station area. During the review, officers spotted a woman along with two accomplices carrying the child near Platform No. 4 before boarding the Panvel–Nanded train.
Following the breakthrough, police began tracking trains heading towards Nanded and alerted railway police units across multiple locations. Search teams were dispatched to Kurduwadi, Barshi, Solapur, Latur, and Daund.
The accused were eventually traced at Daund railway station, where railway police detained all three suspects and rescued the child safely. Preliminary investigation has revealed that the accused were allegedly planning to sell the girl.
The operation was carried out under the guidance of Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar, Deputy Commissioners Gauhar Hasan and Rajlakshmi Shivanakar, along with senior officers and teams from Bundgarden Police Station and the Crime Branch.
