Pune, March 30, 2026: Unseasonal rain swept across several parts of Pune on Monday afternoon, bringing temporary relief from the ongoing heat. A light drizzle was recorded in areas including Aundh, and Shivajinagar, while other parts of the city experienced a mix of thunderstorms and cloud cover. The brief showers helped cool the atmosphere and eased the scorching conditions for residents.
Baner witnessed a brief hailstorm, while Pashan saw rain accompanied by gusty winds. Showers were also reported in Balewadi and Mahalunge.
The India Meteorological Department had earlier forecast similar patterns across Mumbai, Thane, Pune, and the Konkan region. Between March 30 and April 4, parts of Maharashtra are expected to witness gusty winds, rainfall, and possible hailstorms, indicating a period of unstable pre-monsoon activity.
IMD had earlier forecasted cloudy conditions across Mumbai, Thane, Pune, and the Konkan region, along with the possibility of light to moderate rainfall for today. In Pune, the day began under overcast skies, with light showers reported in several parts of the city around 2 PM. The rain brought noticeable relief, leading to a slight drop in temperatures and a cooler atmosphere.
Looking ahead, the department has warned of a significant shift in weather patterns across Maharashtra between March 30 and April 4. Regions including Khandesh, Marathwada, West Vidarbha, and the Ghat areas of Central Maharashtra are likely to experience thunderstorms, gusty winds ranging between 30–50 km/h, rainfall, and isolated hailstorms, particularly during the afternoon hours. Rainfall intensity is expected to increase further from April 1.
