Pune, 1st May 2026: The long-pending road and bridge work connecting Anand Nagar, Suncity Road to Karvenagar has missed its April-end deadline, despite earlier assurances from the administration. The project, aimed at improving connectivity and easing congestion in the Sinhagad Road area, continues to progress slowly.
Authorities had earlier promised to improve the Sinhagad Road stretch and set a firm timeline for completion. In February, Mayor Manjusha Nagpure and municipal officials inspected the site and directed that the work be completed on priority. However, even after the deadline has passed, construction remains sluggish.
The delay has frustrated residents, as traffic congestion continues to affect key routes such as Rajaram Bridge and Warje. If completed on time, the bridge would have enabled direct access from Manik Baug to Karvenagar, reducing both travel time and fuel consumption.
For now, commuters are forced to take longer routes via the main Sinhagad Road and nearby highways. With the monsoon season approaching, there are growing concerns that further delays could extend the project timeline.
Residents have urged the administration to act instead of making repeated assurances. Anjali Vibhute, a local resident, said, "The Anand Nagar to Karvenagar bridge must be completed on time. It will help people reach Karvenagar faster. The administration should now focus on completing the work instead of giving hollow promises."
Meanwhile, officials have stated that work is ongoing and traffic planning will be managed. Dinkar Gojare, Project Head of the Special Projects Department, Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), said, "Traffic planning will be coordinated with the road department where the bridge connects in Karvenagar. The bridge will be completed by the end of June."
