Three Young Men Died as Speeding Car Crashes into Metro Pillar in Pune

The fatal accident occurred near Bund Garden Metro Station early Sunday morning; all three victims were students or professionals from Pimpri-Chinchwad and Beed.

Pune, 3rd November 2025: Three young men were killed in a horrific car accident near the Bund Garden Metro Station early on Sunday morning. The speeding vehicle lost control and crashed directly into a Metro construction pillar around 5 a.m. in the jurisdiction of Koregaon Park Police Station.

The deceased have been identified as Ritvik alias Om Vinayak Bhandari (23, resident of Pimpri), Yash Prasad Bhandari (23, from Thergaon, Pimpri), and Khushwant Kishor Tekwani (19, originally from Beed). According to police, Ritvik Bhandari was driving the car when the accident took place.

The impact of the collision was so severe that the car was completely crushed. Police and fire brigade teams rushed to the scene immediately after receiving the information. Assistant Commissioner of Police Sangita Alfonso-Shinde, Senior Inspector Sangita Jadhav, and other officers from the Koregaon Park division supervised the rescue efforts.

Two of the victims were declared dead on the spot, while Khushwant Tekwani was rushed to Sassoon Hospital with serious injuries. However, he succumbed to his injuries during treatment. The bodies were sent to Sassoon Hospital for post-mortem examination.

Police constable Rupesh Pangare filed a complaint, following which a case was registered at Koregaon Park Police Station. The police have obtained CCTV footage from the area and said that the exact cause of the accident will be determined after the post-mortem and technical inspection.

Preliminary information suggests that the victims were traveling toward Pimpri when the driver lost control of the speeding vehicle.

All three victims were well-educated. Ritvik Bhandari was pursuing an MBA in Finance, Yash Bhandari worked for an IT company, and Khushwant Tekwani was a B.Tech engineering student at MIT College, Pune.
