Pune: Teacher Died in Accident; Truck Collide with Scooter on Katraj–Kondhwa Road

Speeding truck hits two-wheeler from behind; accused driver arrested; The accident occurred near Kesar Lodge on the Katraj–Kondhwa Road

Pune, 16 December 2025: A 52-year-old schoolteacher lost her life after a speeding truck rammed into her two-wheeler from behind on the Katraj–Kondhwa Road on Monday morning. The accident took place around 7.30 am near Kesar Lodge.

The deceased has been identified as Rama Lalitprasad Kapadi, a resident of Shrinivas Sankul, Maulinagar, on the Katraj–Kondhwa Road. Kapadi was on her way to school when the truck hit her from behind, causing her to fall under the vehicle’s wheels. She suffered severe injuries and died on the spot.

She was rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared her dead before treatment could begin. Police arrested the truck driver, Devendra Satyam Basannapalli (45), a resident of Nalgonda district in Telangana. A case has been registered at Kondhwa Police Station based on a complaint filed by the victim’s daughter, Revati Kapadi (24).

Senior Police Inspector Kumar Ghadge and Police Inspector Navnath Jagtap visited the accident site soon after receiving information. Police Sub-Inspector Ravindra Gavade is conducting further investigation.
