Pune Suicide: Teen Dies Following Alleged Social Media Threat

17-year-old allegedly takes her life amid threats of sharing private photos online,

In a shocking incident, a minor girl allegedly took her own life by jumping from the roof of a building in Pune’s Baner area. The suicide is believed to have been prompted by harassment from a young man.

On Saturday, April 4, 2026, at around 11:30 a.m., the girl jumped from the building. The accused allegedly threatened to circulate her pictures on social media.

A 17-year-old girl from Balewadi allegedly took her own life, police said. A case has been registered against 21-year-old Gorakh Sugriv Gore, a resident of Shankar Nagar in Patoda, Jalna district, on charges of abetting her suicide. The girl’s brother lodged a complaint at Baner police station.

According to authorities, the accused had been harassing the girl after discovering she was in contact with a young man from the neighbourhood.

He allegedly threatened to circulate her photographs on social media. Police Inspector Alka Sarg of the Crime Branch is leading the investigation. Further details are awaited.
