The victim has been identified as Aman Surendrasingh Gachand (17), a resident of Tingrenagar in Vishrantwadi. His mother, Anita Gachand, had filed a missing complaint on December 31 after Aman did not return home. Based on her complaint, Vishrantwadi Police initially registered a case of abduction.

During the investigation, police tracked Aman’s mobile call records and location data, which revealed that he had been in contact with the accused shortly before he went missing. Further inquiry showed that the accused used a girl’s social media profile to contact Aman and gain his trust. He was asked to meet in Katraj, where he arrived on his scooter, unaware that it was a trap.

Police said the motive behind the murder was an earlier violent incident. Around four months ago, Aman and his friends had allegedly attacked one of the accused with a sharp weapon. A case related to that assault was registered at Uttamnagar Police Station in September. Seeking revenge, the accused planned the crime carefully.

After meeting Aman, the accused allegedly abducted him and took him to a secluded area in Khed Shivapur. There, he was brutally assaulted with stones and sharp weapons, leading to his death. The accused then buried the body to hide evidence.

Acting on a tip-off, Crime Branch Unit 3 traced the accused to Belagavi and arrested them with the help of local police. A court has remanded the accused to police custody till January 9. The investigation is ongoing, and police are examining the role of all those involved, including the juveniles.

Police officials stated that the case highlights how old rivalries, combined with the misuse of social media, can lead to extreme violence, especially among young people.
