Pune, 29th August 2026: Three Bangladeshi nationals allegedly staying illegally in Pune were detained in a joint operation by the Pune Police Special Branch and Military Intelligence on Thursday (August 27) afternoon.
The three have been identified as Sonia Akhtar, Motiyar Gazi and Sonia Moti Pan.
According to the police, Military Intelligence received confidential information that some Bangladeshi nationals were living illegally in Pune. Acting on the information, the agency and the Special Branch conducted a raid at around 3 pm on August 27.
During the preliminary questioning and verification of documents, police found that the three had allegedly entered India without valid permission and were staying in Pune without the required documents.
The authorities have started the process of issuing detention orders for the three individuals. Once the legal formalities are completed, they are expected to be sent back to Bangladesh.
Following the operation, police and intelligence agencies have increased patrolling and surveillance in several sensitive areas of Pune to identify people allegedly staying in the city without valid documents and to take action against networks facilitating such illegal stays.
