The crackdown was visible in several important areas including Shivajinagar, JM Road, SB Road, FC Road, Baner, and Aundh. Police officials said the drive was launched to address Pune’s growing traffic problems and to prevent serious accidents caused by violations of traffic rules.

Alongside enforcement, the Pune City Traffic Police has also increased citizen participation through technology. On Monday, the traffic police announced a reward of ₹50,000 for citizens who report the highest number of traffic offences in a year using the Pune Traffic Police (PTP) mobile application.

Additional Commissioner of Police Manoj Patil said citizens can easily download the PTP app and report violations by uploading photos or videos. These violations include triple-seat riding, parking on footpaths, fancy number plates, rash driving, using mobile phones while driving, and double parking. He added that the initiative aims to strengthen road safety with public support.

Patil further stated, “We have decided to reward ₹50,000 to the person or persons who report the maximum number of traffic offences in a year through the PTP app.”

According to police data, citizens have uploaded around 1.80 lakh traffic violations on the app so far. Based on these reports, challans have been issued against nearly 1.16 lakh motorists. The police believe this combined approach of strict enforcement and public involvement will help improve traffic discipline in Pune.
