Pune, Jan 22, 2026: On January 23, when the final stage of the Pune Grand Tour 2026 is held, Pune will witness temporary changes to traffic arrangements across major city routes. The international cycling event, organised by the district administration in association with the Cycling Federation of India, is expected to impact vehicular movement. Joint Commissioner of Police Ranjankumar Sharma has urged citizens to plan their travel in advance and use alternative routes during the race period.
The fourth stage of the race will take place between 12 noon and 4 pm on January 23. Traffic will be restored in phases once the cyclists pass through the respective routes. Pune Police have announced extensive road closures and traffic diversions across the city on January 23 due to the Pune Grand Tour cycling race. Several key corridors linking Baner, Pashan, University area, Karve Road, and central Pune will remain closed for varying durations, with commuters advised to follow designated alternative routes.

In the Baner–Sus–Pashan belt, the Radha Chowk–Poonam Bakery Chowk–Suskhind Road stretch will be closed. Traffic will be diverted via Baner Road, Radha Chowk, Saikar Chowk, Jupiter Hospital Chowk, Wakad, and Hinjewadi. Vehicles heading towards Susgaon have been advised to use Saikar Chowk–Mamta Chowk–Sus Bridge–Sutarwadi Underpass, while those travelling towards Bavdhan or the Pune–Mumbai Highway should proceed via Mamta Chowk.
The Poonam Bakery to Pashan Circle route, including the Pashan–Sus Road, will remain shut, with traffic diverted through Sutarwadi Road and the Pune–Mumbai Highway. Similarly, the Pashan Circle–NCL–Abhimanshree Society–Savitribai Phule Pune University Chowk stretch will be closed, with vehicles redirected via Baner Road.
In the University and Aundh area, roads between Pune University Chowk, Bremen Chowk, Rajiv Gandhi Bridge, and S.B. Junction will be inaccessible. Motorists will be diverted through Bremen Chowk, Spicer College, Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Chowk, and Range Hills.
Several stretches along Ganeshkhind Road, Law College Road, Karve Road, and Paud Road will also remain closed. Traffic from S.B. Junction to Patrakar Nagar will be diverted via Ganeshkhind and Nargis Dutt roads, while vehicles on Law College Road and Karve Road will be rerouted through Bhandarkar Road, BMCC Road, DP Road, Warje Road, and Gulawani Maharaj Road.
In central Pune, multiple closures have been announced between Tilak Chowk, Puram Chowk, Bajirao Road, Appa Balwant Chowk, ABC Chowk, and Swargate-bound routes. Commuters are advised to use riverbed roads, Sinhagad Road, Jedhe Chowk, Seven Loves Chowk, and adjoining arterial roads as alternatives.
Further restrictions will be in place across Camp, Ghorpadi, Shaniwarwada, and Bal Gandharva areas, including routes from the National War Memorial to Arjun Road, Ghorpadi Junction to Sadhu Vaswani Chowk, and Lal Mahal to Shaniwarwada. Traffic between Garware Bridge and Bal Gandharva Chowk, however, will remain partially open, with authorities assuring that most road closures will not exceed 30 minutes at a time.
