Pune Woman Assistant Engineer Booked for Neglecting Election Duties

Public Works Department official allegedly ignored two show-cause notices after failing to report for election-related work

Pune, 1st October 2026: Wagholi Police have registered a case against a woman assistant engineer from the Public Works Department (PWD) for allegedly neglecting election-related duties and failing to comply with official orders. The action was taken under provisions of the Representation of the People Act and other relevant laws.

According to the police, the woman was appointed as an Additional Assistant Electoral Registration Officer in preparation for the upcoming elections. However, she allegedly failed to report for her assigned duties between June 10 and September 30.

The senior office had issued two show-cause notices to the assistant engineer over her continued absence. However, she allegedly failed to respond to either notice or report for duty.

Gokul Bhagat, 52, a village revenue officer in Wagholi, filed a complaint at Wagholi Police Station. Based on his complaint, the police registered a case against the woman for allegedly refusing to perform her official responsibilities.

The administration stated that her absence increased the workload of other officers and employees involved in election preparations. The case has been registered for alleged neglect of election duties and violations of the relevant provisions of the Representation of the People Act.
