Pune, 2nd September 2026: The city now has a higher number of women voters than men, a shift that could make the female electorate a significant force in the 2029 Lok Sabha and Assembly elections.
The draft electoral roll shows that across the city’s eight Assembly constituencies, there are 10,00,308 registered women voters, compared with 9,82,684 men. Women thus exceed men on the rolls by 17,624.
The higher number of women voters could influence campaign strategies and electoral priorities as political parties prepare for the next major election cycle.

The revision has flagged 13,32,418 cases for hearings. Of these, 5,77,821 electors have discrepancies in their details, while 7,54,597 names could not be mapped to the 2002 electoral roll.
The flagged cases will now go through the prescribed hearing process as part of the electoral roll revision.
The latest draft roll records 62,13,692 voters across Pune district’s 21 Assembly constituencies.
Among the constituencies, Bhosari has the highest number of voters, while Shivajinagar has the lowest.
