Railways begins fixing iron grills at ghat section

ST CORRESPONDENT

PUNE: Railway services get affected in the ghat section during the monsoon most of the time due to landslides, which lead to accidents. Now, the Railways has started fixing iron grills in the ghat section near Khandala. The work started recently and will be completed within two months.

In August last year, a big boulder collapsed on the railway track, which had affected railway services badly. The Railways started monitoring the situation through drones and installing rockfall protection nets.

The Railways started installing the iron grill a month ago to protect trains. The work is going on in full swing.

“In order to safeguard tracks, Railways has taken steps towards safety and started installing iron grill in the ghat section near Khandala. The work will be complete before the monsoon,” said a senior officer of Central Railway.
