Pune : The members of city-based ASOMI- ASSAMESE organisation who are collecting funds to help flood-affected persons back home in Assam, have decided to rush to the help of those affected by flood in Maharashtra. Dr. Samiron Phukan, President of this association, Rajib Borkataki, and Nripen Gogoi donated a cheque of Rs20,000 to Sakal Relief fund on Saturday.
On Saturday, Sakal Relief Fund started collection of donation for flood-affected people and colelcted Rs 5 lakh.
To help the residents of flood-affected Kolhapur, Sangli and Satara, Sakal Relief Fund has not only contributed Rs 1 crore for relief work, but also urges people to contribute generously towards the cause.
Cash can be given at Sakal Times' office at Sakal Papers Pvt Ltd, Plot No 27, Narveer Tanaji Wadi, Near PMT Depot, opposite St Francis School, Shivajinagar, Pune - 411005, contact number (020-25602100, fax: 020-25602200) in the city from 11 am to 6 pm. Considering the magnitude of the disaster, the government machinery might not be adequate in providing the relief to those in need. The rehabilitation of these people needs joint effort by the society. Sakal Relief Fund has decided to play the role of a coordinator between various NGOs who have been in touch with Sakal to provide relief to the needy.
The donations made for the relief fund will be exempted under section 80G.
