ST CORRESPONDENT

PUNE: Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) will be offering five courses through a distance learning programme from the academic year 2019-20.

The courses are Bachelor of Arts (BA), Bachelor of Commerce (BCom), Master of Arts (MA), Master of Commerce (MCom) and Master of Business Administration (MBA). The courses will be run under SPPU’s Open Learning School.

The concept of distance learning is timely and will benefit several students in seeking education, stated the Director of SPPU Open Learning School, Sanjeev Sonawane.

“The effort is to provide good quality education and reach maximum students to offer degree courses through this distance learning facility,” he added.

The students will be guided about related subjects and provided with relevant study material. It will be provided in English and Marathi languages.

Students will be given assignments to ensure the syllabus is completed effectively. This facility will not be available for external students.

Depending on the number of enrollments for these courses in Pune, Nashik and Ahmednagar, SPPU will also provide required study centres. The syllabus of all the above courses will remain the same as of regular courses and they will follow the annual pattern instead of semester pattern.

University will be developing an independent web portal for students to avail all information about the courses. These courses will start from the first or second week of August, informed university officials.
