PUNE: While the process for teachers’ recruitment at government and government-aided schools has begun after nine long years in the state, the difficulties in the process continue to persist. 

The candidates were already unhappy over the lower number of vacancies declared and their unfair distribution across categories and many have now filed petitions over several issues at the High Court.

While B.Ed./D.Ed. holders educated from English-medium schools earlier had 20 per cent reservation in the teachers’ recruitment, this reservation does not exist in the Pavitra portal. 

These candidates have filed a petition regarding the same at the Aurangabad bench of the Bombay High Court. The hearing on the matter is scheduled for April 15 or 16. 

Similarly, while last year the National Council of Teacher Education (NCTE) had amended its rules and made B.Ed candidates eligible to teach classes I to V, this feature wasn’t offered to the candidates who were applying through the Pavitra portal. 

The candidates have filed a separate petition on this matter to go along with the previous petitions.

While the portal is ready for the applicants to give their preference list, the process has been delayed due to the issues that are cropping up every other day. 

More than 1 lakh candidates who have applied, have no option but to wait for the court hearing.
