Pune, 17 December 2025: The Pune Union of Working Journalist (PUWJ) celebrated its 86th foundation day by honouring journalists who have shown excellence in journalism and allied fields, along with meritorious students of journalism from Savitribai Phule Pune University.
The programme featured Ashim Patil, Managing Director and CEO of Infotek Software and Systems Pvt. Ltd. (I-Tech), as the chief guest. He delivered a thought-provoking address on “The Impact of Changing Technology on Society.”
Patil stressed that technology should not remain limited to business profits alone. “Business may aim for money, but that should not be its only objective. Technology must create social value,” he said. He explained that innovation should be cheap, durable, and accessible, ensuring wide public acceptance.
Speaking on modern technologies, Patil highlighted the role of RFID, NFC, AI, and digital systems in improving efficiency and transparency. He cited examples such as FASTag plays role in fuel and time savings, and improved road safety. He noted that while technology is well-equipped, civic sense often becomes the real challenge, making public awareness crucial.
Patil also spoke about logistics and exports, pointing to long queues at ports and delays. He explained how trust-based systems like e-Seal and self-sealing containers, supported by RFID tracking, are helping reduce costs and save time under CBIC initiatives.
Emphasising innovation, he said leaders must think beyond routine solutions and become pioneers. “There is always a human behind the machine,” Patil remarked, underlining the importance of thought leadership, ethical responsibility, and social sensitivity.
