Three externed goons nabbed by police

PUNE: Three externed goons have been nabbed by officials from Khadak police station. The trio and their accomplices had assaulted a man in Ghorpade Peth on March 5.

The arrested goons have been identified as Shrinath Ashok Shelar alias Tikya (20) of Ghorpade Peth, Rahul Shaam Bhargude (22) of Sadashiv Peth and Vipul Babanrao Ingawle (19) of Khadakmal Ali.

According to the police, on March 5, Basavraj Kanne (30) of Gultekdi and his friends had gone Amir Dilawar Shaikh's house in Ghorpade Peth, to mediate between Shaikh and his wife after some dispute. The arrested accused and their goons asked Kanne and his friends to stay away and after arguments, they assaulted them with iron pipe and sticks.

While investigating the case, the police received input about the involvement of externed goons and accordingly, these persons were arrested. There are five cases of robbery, kidnapping, etc against Shelar, four cases, including rioting, against Bhargude and eight cases, including kidnapping, rioting, assault, against Ingawle.

The accused were arrested by a team which included PSI Sanjay Gaikwad, Anant Vyawhare and policemen Vijay Kamble, Vinod Jadhav, Vishwanath Shinde, Bapu Shinde, Rakesh Kshirsagar, Ganesh Satpute, Ravi Lokhande, Sandip Kamble, Aniket Babar and Mahesh Kamble.
