Pune, 30 June 2025: After many days of heavy rain, Sunday’s clear skies encouraged thousands of people from Pune to head out for monsoon drives and nature trips. Popular places like Sinhagad Fort, Mulshi, and Tamhini Ghat were packed with visitors, leading to long traffic jams and crowded tourist spots.
The road to Sinhagad Fort saw bumper-to-bumper traffic all the way from the city to the base of the fort. The same happened on the Mulshi-Tamhini stretch, where narrow roads and lack of parking created major problems. Social media was filled with photos and videos showing long vehicle lines and packed hill areas.
Earlier rains and the temporary closure of Sinhagad Fort had kept tourists away for some time. But with better weather, people returned in large numbers to enjoy the greenery and scenic views. However, this rush has raised concerns about safety and overcrowding at these natural spots.
Officials are now asking people to visit during non-peak hours and to be careful while trekking or driving in hilly areas. Locals have suggested that the government should limit the number of weekend visitors, use e-permits, and add more traffic staff to manage the crowd. As monsoon tourism picks up again, there is a growing need to balance fun trips with safety and environmental care.
