‘Only grocery, medical stores will remain open’

Pune: Though the malls in the city are shut, only essential shops like grocery stores and medical stores will remain open, said Pune Divisional Commissioner Deepak Mhaisekar during a press conference on Sunday.

“We will be enforcing Section 144 to ensure that there are no mass gatherings in the district. We advise home isolation to avoid unnecessary gatherings. We will take very strict measures. Parks will also be shut for the same reason,” informed Mhaisekar.

He further added a website and an application has been created where patients can share their home quarantine details. “Doctors can also fill in details on the website and application. We are ensuring strict home quarantine for citizens with a travel history abroad.”

“However, if they do not follow it, they will be forcibly institutionally quarantined,” added Mhaisekar.

In Kolhapur, Sangli, Satara and Solapur, no patients have tested positive for COVID-19.

“One sample from Solapur was shared with the National Institute of Virology (NIV). However, there has been no positive patient from these districts for now,” Mhaisekar further informed during the press conference.
