Bishop’s Camp boys clinch U-19 title

PUNE: The Bishop’s School, Camp defeated Pune International Junior College 2-0 to clinch the Under-19 title of the Zilla Parishad football tournament being played at the PDFA football ground in Dobarwadi on Sunday.

Both the teams took to the ground with a win in mind as it was the title at stake. Both teams were on attack mode right from the start as tried their best to take the lead.

The Bishop’s School finally took the all important lead when Raul Ovalekar scored in the 18th minute from a pass by Gatso Sonam.

The second goal for the Bishop’s lads came in the 33rd minute when Gatso Sonam scored through a penalty shootout.

Pune International Junior College tried hard to score but good defence by Bishop’s denied them any goal. In the end, the Bishop’s boys walked home with the title.

RESULTS: Under-19
Final: The Bishops School, Camp 2 (Raul Ovalekar 18th, Gatso Sonam  33rd) bt Pune International Junior College 0.

Semifinal: The Bishop’s School, Camp 1 (Shiva Pandey 10th) bt Fergusson College 0. 

Third place: Army Public School 0 (5) Shlok Bajpai, Abhishek Sawant, Rodsi Singhal, Dhruv Dasouni, Anmitra Bahuguna) bt Fergusson College 0 (4) Yugant Kamble, Sarang Patekar, Satyan Patil, Vedant Malkarnekar).
