Indian shooters have taken a lead in the medal standings at the ISSF Junior World Cup 2025 in New Delhi, securing a total of 13 medals; including four gold, six silver, and three bronze, by the end of Day 3 of the competition. The host nation's performance at the Dr Karni Singh Range has been marked by clean sweeps and victories across the rifle, pistol, and shotgun disciplines.
The latest gold for India came on Sunday in the women’s 50m Rifle 3 Positions event, where Anushka Thokur clinched her second gold of the competition with a score of 461.0. She finished ahead of Individual Neutral Athletes Anastasiia Sorikina and Mariia Kruglova. Thokur had earlier led an all-Indian podium sweep in the women's 50m rifle prone event on the opening day, scoring 621.6 to win gold, with Anshika and Aadhya Agrawal claiming silver and bronze respectively. In the men's equivalent, India secured silver and bronze through Deependra Singh Shekhawat and Rohit Kanyan.
The pistol events also saw certain success for. On Friday, Jonathan Gavin Antony secured the men's 10m air pistol gold with a dominating score of 244.8. This was followed on Saturday by an all-Indian final in the 10m air pistol mixed team event, where Rashmika Sahgal and Kapil defeated their compatriots Vanshika Chaudhary and Jonathan Gavin Antony 16-10 for India’s third gold. Rashmika Sahgal also earned a silver medal in the individual women's 10m air pistol final.
The skeet events contributed to the medal haul, with Paris 2024 Olympian Raiza Dhillon winning a silver medal in the women’s skeet final, shooting 51 hits. Reigning Asian champion Mansi Raghuwanshi added a bronze, ensuring a double podium finish for India in the event. Meanwhile, in the junior men’s 50m rifle 3 Positions competition, Adriyan Karmakar secured a silver medal with a score of 454.8, narrowly finishing behind AIN competitor Dmitrii Pimenov.
The 11th edition of the Junior World Cup and the first to be hosted in India, features 208 shooters from 19 federations. With four gold, six silver, and three bronze medals, the 69-member Indian contingent has firmly established its position will look to make further strides, up until its conclusion on October 2.
