Nupur, Aadya register victories

Pune: Nupur Thakar and Aadya Joshi beat respective opponents as they advanced to the next round of the girls Under-11 category in the Solaris-Ravetkar Cup District Ranking Badminton Tournament being played at the Mayur Colony courts here on Tuesday.

In a match of near equals, Nupur began with a bang against Poorva Valvande winning the first game. However, Poorva did not give up and levelled the match, winning the second game. In the final game, Nupur staged a comeback to win 15-7, 11-15, 15-13.

In the other encounter, Aadya rallied from a game down against Anushri Joshi to win 14-15, 15-14, 15-11.

In the boys Under-13 battle, Shreyas Shedge beat Ashutosh Kulkarni 15-3, 15-0 while Archit Dandekar struggled against an equally fighting Atharva Chivate to win narrowly 15-13, 15-13.
