Prithvi Shaw back with a ton, helps Maharashtra out of a murky situation

Since joining Maharashtra Cricket Board after obtaining a No Objection Certificate from Mumbai, Prithvi Shaw played an important knock to help Maharashtra in the Buchi Babu invitational tournament.

On what was supposed to be Shaw's first tournament for Maharashtra, after his move from Mumbai in July, the 25 year old has come out all guns blazing, scoring a century in the first innings of just 122 balls, sailing the ship for Maharashtra who at one stage had lost four wickets for just 15 runs.

Mumbai had earlier dropped him from the Ranji Trophy squad 24-25, suggesting poor performance and lack of discipline. Now, it is to be seen what he makes up for the setback he had earlier been handed. Starting with a century on debut, could be one step towards it.

Ruturaj Gaikwad, who also made his return since an injury, picked up a wicket from the last over of the Chattisgarh innings, but at the same time got dismissed for 1, on his return to the crease.
