Google parent Alphabet is set to invest $10 billion in AI startup Anthropic, with plans to commit up to an additional $30 billion if certain performance milestones are met, according to a Bloomberg report. The deal values Anthropic at around $350 billion, signalling Big Tech’s continued push into advanced artificial intelligence.

As part of the agreement, Google Cloud will provide Anthropic with up to 5 gigawatts of computing capacity over the next five years, with room to scale further. The move reflects the growing importance of compute power in training and deploying large AI models.

Anthropic’s rapid growth has been driven by its AI coding assistant, Claude Code, which has gained strong traction among developers. The company’s annual revenue has reportedly surged past $30 billion, while its base of high-spending enterprise clients continues to expand.

The investment comes shortly after Amazon announced a separate $5 billion commitment to Anthropic, with scope to increase it significantly. Together, these deals highlight a broader trend of AI firms securing funding in exchange for long-term cloud and infrastructure partnerships.

Anthropic is also said to be exploring an initial public offering later this year, as investor interest in the AI sector continues to surge.
