To compete with leading AI players like OpenAI, Apple is working on releasing it sometime in 2027. The device is described as a small, thin, circular disc roughly the size of an AirTag but slightly thicker, featuring an aluminum-and-glass shell. It would attach to clothing like a pin.
OpenAI is expected to launch its first AI hardware, possibly earbuds, in late 2026, fueling speculation that Apple is racing to enter the AI wearables market alongside Meta and others. The report also notes parallels with the short-lived Humane AI Pin, which failed due to poor performance, limited features, privacy concerns, and low sales before shutting down.
