On Thursday, the government revealed a plan to establish India's first AI-driven township in Bidadi and named the Greater Bengaluru Innovation and Tech City (GBIT). The initiative aims to alleviate the strain on Bengaluru by redistributing population and economic activities through planned and sustainable development.

GBIT will combine residential, commercial, and social areas into a self-sustaining ecosystem, with a new central business district (CBD) at its heart, constructed to international standards to attract investment and create large-scale employment in technology, industry, and services.

"GBIT will reflect the aspirations of a new generation, and it will be our commitment to shape their future with inclusion, sustainability and dignity," deputy chief minister DK Shivakumar said.

The project also focuses on sustainability, adopting a "zero-carbon, zero-waste, zero-traffic" approach, with extensive green buffers and digital twin technology for predictive planning and effective governance. Additionally, the project aims to revitalize the Byramangala lake.

Another significant aspect of the plan is the "land owner as partner" model, where farmers will be considered stakeholders. Villages within the project area will maintain their cultural identity, while landowners will receive developed plots or fair financial compensation.

Connectivity is highlighted as a major advantage, featuring direct access to national highways 275 and 209, closeness to Bidadi railway station and the planned suburban rail, along with integration into Metro Phase 3 and the airport corridor.

The govt stated that GBIT will represent a progressive vision for Bengaluru's future. The integration of residential, commercial, and social areas will establish a self-sustaining ecosystem intended to enhance lives for future generations.

Emphasizing inclusive development, it will also guarantee that farmers are recognized as essential partners in advancement. This envisioned city seeks to transform holistic urban living and play a crucial role in the region's development and prosperity, govt stated.
