Google says GoogleBooks are the “first laptops designed from the ground up for Gemini Intelligence,” this is what the company describes as a shift “from an operating system to an intelligence system.”

The new GoogleBooks will support Android apps, AI-generated widgets, and Gemini-powered contextual assistance. Unlike traditional Chromebooks, the devices are also expected to run a new intelligence-focused operating system, with the first models scheduled to launch this fall.

Almost 15 years after Chromebooks and ChromeOS sparked a wave of affordable, web-based laptops that reshaped the education market, Google has now introduced GoogleBooks, a new AI-first laptop platform built around Android and Gemini Intelligence, aiming to bring a similar transformation to the premium computing space.

In a blog post, Google Senior Director Alex Kuscher said, “Over 15 years ago, we introduced the Chromebook, a laptop built for a cloud-first world. Now, as computing shifts from an operating system to an intelligence system, we see an opportunity to rethink laptops again.”

GoogleBook Gemini Intelligence Laptops: Expected Pricing and Availability

Google describes GoogleBooks as featuring a “featherweight design” with “heavyweight power,” suggesting mid- to upper-tier ultraportable pricing. The devices are expected to be more expensive than Chromebooks, which currently range between $750 and $1,000 for high-end models.
