Chinese companies like Hikvision, Dahua, and TP-Link will face restrictions under India’s new CCTV rules, which come into effect on April 1, 2026. Only devices meeting India’s strict certification and security standards will be allowed for sale.

The regulation is expected to benefit domestic brands such as CP Plus and Qubo, which have already gained market share following earlier certification rules. Analysts predict the rules may push CCTV prices higher due to compliance costs but will also boost local production and secure the country’s surveillance ecosystem.

Officials said the decision is intended to enhance oversight, safeguard critical infrastructure, and reduce vulnerabilities or unauthorized access in surveillance systems. The measures include disclosing the origin of hardware and conducting vulnerability assessments, with a particular focus on government and public installations.

The shift signals a major transformation in India’s electronics and surveillance sector, highlighting the government’s growing emphasis on cybersecurity, data protection, and reliance on trusted technology.
