Motorola has launched the Edge 70 Max in India, positioning the device as its most powerful Edge-series phone yet and the fifth entry in the Edge 70 family after the Edge 70, Edge 70 Fusion, Edge 70 Pro, and Edge 70 Pro+. The phone pairs a flagship Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chipset with a massive 7,100mAh silicon-carbon battery, a Quad-HD+ 144Hz AMOLED display, and a Sony LYTIA camera system, breaking from the curved-edge design used across the rest of the Edge 70 lineup in favour of flat sides, a glass back, and a squared-off camera module.
The Motorola Edge 70 Max is priced at Rs. 54,999 for the 8GB RAM+256GB storage variant and Rs. 59,999 for the 12GB RAM+256GB storage variant. With launch offers factored in, the effective prices come down to Rs. 49,999 and Rs. 54,999 respectively, with offers including up to Rs. 5,000 as a bank discount or exchange bonus, along with no-cost EMI options for up to 18 months. The phone will be available from Flipkart, motorola.in, and offline stores starting July 20.
Display: The Edge 70 Max features a Quad HD+ AMOLED display with a 144Hz refresh rate, up to 7,000 nits of peak brightness, 10-bit colour depth, and support for the DCI-P3 colour gamut. The panel uses LTPO technology, letting the screen slow its refresh rate for static content like reading and speed back up to 144Hz for gaming, which helps conserve battery without any visible drop in smoothness.
Processor and performance: The Motorola Edge 70 Max is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chipset, paired with up to 12GB LPDDR5X RAM and 256GB UFS 4.1 storage. Motorola says the chip delivers faster CPU, graphics and AI performance than the previous generation. The phone also features an ArcticMesh cooling system with a large vapour chamber to reduce heat during gaming and other intensive tasks.
Camera: The Edge 70 Max features a 50MP Sony LYTIA 710 primary camera with OIS, an 8MP ultra-wide/macro lens, and a 32MP front camera, with support for up to 4K video recording.
Battery: The smartphone packs a 7,100mAh silicon-carbon battery with 90W wired TurboPower and 25W Qi2.2 wireless charging.
Software and AI: It runs Android 16 with Hello UX, offering 3 OS upgrades and 5 years of security updates. AI features include Google Gemini, Copilot, Perplexity, and Motorola's Qira assistant for summaries, search and generative tools.
Build: The phone features an aircraft-grade aluminium frame, Gorilla Glass 7i, IP68/IP69 water and dust resistance, MIL-STD-810H certification, dual stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos, and support for 5G, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.4 and NFC.
With flagship specifications and AI features, the Edge 70 Max strengthens Motorola's premium smartphone lineup as it competes with rivals in the upper mid-range and flagship segment.
