Spotify to launch its redesigned desktop app, web player

The most remarkable change will transform it to resemble the mobile app.

Music-streaming platform Spotify recently announced a new look for its services on its desktop version -- for both Mac and Windows, as well as an updated web app.

Although the redesign brings in several cosmetic changes -- with some features finding a new place within the app -- the most remarkable change will transform it to resemble the mobile app.

"Since the desktop experience served as the original window to the world for Spotify, this was not a task we took lightly. It took months of tests and research, talking to users, and gathering feedback. Now, we're pleased to deliver a new, clean design, more controls, and a great new foundation for our listeners to use Spotify across our desktop app and web player for the years to come," the company said in a statement.

Another remarkable feature will allow users to download songs off Spotify Premium on their desktop version, similar to that of the app.

Within the new design, the search tool is located on the left side of the navigation page. It was earlier kept on top of the home screen. A search bar has been added to playlists as well.

Although the design is set to roll out globally, users across the world may have to wait a little longer for it to reach their desktops.
