Swiggy Expands ‘Food on Train’ Service with Faster Delivery Features

During the festive season, train travellers can choose from more than 5,000 dishes and have them delivered to their seats across over 115 stations.

In a move to make train journeys more appetising, Swiggy on Thursday, September 26 introduced its ‘Food on Train’ feature. The service offers travellers curated menus from top city restaurants, delivered fresh at designated stations.

Swiggy claims that users can place orders up to 25% more quickly due to an enhanced Food on Train page, which functions even with unstable internet connections. The service provides hot meals from reliable local restaurant partners directly to train seats at more than 115 stations.

Swiggy also launched Easy Eats, aimed at ensuring a seamless dining experience on trains. The Easy Eats menu is crafted to offer convenient meals for travelers.

As the festive season kicks in and millions of Indians prepare to travel home for Diwali, Dussehra, and other celebrations, Swiggy is stepping in to make those journeys more flavorful.

With its new Food on Train service, passengers can now choose from over 5,000 dishes, delivered directly to their seats at more than 115 stations. The feature brings together curated menus, reliable quality, and seamless tech, ensuring faster orders and easier food discovery on the go.

Discussing the latest features, Deepak Maloo, Swiggy's vice-president of food strategy, customer experience, and new initiatives, stated, “We’ve listened to what our customers want, and we’re excited to roll out a suite of smarter, more personalised meal choices designed to make every journey delicious, convenient, and truly special. City Best takes the guesswork out of ordering, so travellers can effortlessly find trusted, high-quality options from restaurant partners celebrated for their food, hygiene, and generous portions.” 

Moreover, the newly introduced Offer Zone provides passengers with over 30 exclusive deals, offering discounts of up to 60% at well-known restaurants, allowing for significant savings on tasty meals during the holiday period. For individuals observing Navratri fasts or those who prefer vegetarian cuisine, Swiggy has introduced a special Pure Veg section to simplify the search for completely vegetarian options.
