In positive news for non-English speaking YouTube creators globally, YouTube has announced the expansion of its multi-language audio dubbing feature to all creators in the coming weeks. This will allow creators worldwide to reach a broader audience and enable viewers to watch videos in their native languages.

“Now, when a YouTube creator in the US releases a new video, within moments a viewer in Korea, Brazil, and India can watch it in their native language”, the platform said.

Initially launched as a pilot program in 2023, the feature was previously available to a select group of YouTubers. However, it will now be accessible to all creators, regardless of size.

YouTube’s Multi-Language Audio Boosts Global Views

According to a blog post by YouTube, creators who added multi-language audio tracks to their videos experienced an average increase of over 25 percent in watch time from viewers who did not speak the video's original language.

The platform said that some of the most well-known creators like MrBeast and Mark Rober have gained millions of viewers from all around the world, with Rober having the highest number of multi-language audio dubs uploaded, averaging over 30 languages per video.

Before YouTube introduced this feature, creators had to rely on third-party dubbing services, which sometimes added to their production costs and limited their viewers to a particular language. The multi-language audio dubbing feature will also make it easy for viewers to explore a wide range of videos they previously couldn’t understand, while creators will be able to get more viewership outside of their country, something that will help them generate more revenue.
