Pune: Speeding Car Hits Couple on Two-Wheeler, Driver Flees Without Assisting Victims

Pune: A speeding car hit a two-wheeler carrying a couple on the Gultekdi flyover late Saturday (December 22) night, causing both riders to suffer serious injuries. The car driver fled the scene without offering any assistance to the injured. A case has been registered at Swargate Police Station, and efforts are underway to trace the driver.

The incident occurred around 10:30 PM on December 22. According to the complaint filed by Prakash Bafna (58), a resident of Bhoomi Villa Society, Market Yard, he and his wife were returning home on their two-wheeler after dining at a restaurant on Tilak Road. While crossing the Gultekdi flyover en route to Market Yard, a speeding car rammed into their vehicle.

The impact threw the Bafna couple onto the road, leaving them seriously injured. Instead of stopping to help, the driver of the car sped away, leaving the couple unattended on the flyover. The injured couple was immediately taken to a private hospital for treatment. Bafna suffered severe injuries, including fractures in both arms, while his wife also sustained significant injuries.

Senior Police Inspector Yuvraj Nandre visited the accident site shortly after the incident. Police Naik Vinod Dhamangaonkar is leading the investigation. Efforts to locate the absconding driver are ongoing, with police examining potential leads to identify and apprehend the individual responsible.
