Pune: After a successful run last year, when the app was launched the first time, GeoSpoc has released the second version of its app ‘Finding Ganesha’ with a few added features. The app has a unique map that helps people locate the pandals of their choice for Ganesh darshan and find parking space nearby.
The map highlights the 35 frequently visited Ganesh pandals in Pune including the five ‘Manache Ganpati’. It can be accessed through a QR Code or the link https://geospoc.com/ganesh/
As an added feature this year, the app will also give real-time updates of where the different dhol-tasha pathaks will be playing on the day of Visarjan.
The company decided to launch the app again this year, with added features, after receiving an overwhelming response last year. According to the data, the app was viewed by the users 39,400 times last year. “The Ganesh festival attracts crowds from far-off places, eager to take in the sights and sounds of the city, who are often faced with the question of where to start from. Finding Ganesha will help these people find the pandals of their choice with ease,” said Gaurang Nanda of GeoSpoc.
“GeoSpoc, with our expertise in mapping and location data, has created this interactive map to help you navigate the smorgasbord of pandals in the city. We have highlighted the ‘Manache Ganpati’ which hold historical and cultural significance, which are a must-visit for the avid aficionados,” Nanda further added.
The map holds locations of parking spaces, and locations of key emergency services (hospitals and police stations), along with their contact details. One can click or tap on the name on the right to see these places on the map. You can also click on the markers to get more information. As the virsaran arrives, the map will be updated by the experts with Pune’s most loved dhol tasha groups, the visarjan routes and more. While the facility of navigation is not available on the website, people can copy the longitude-latitude coordinates from the link, and paste them on their GPS navigator.
As a feedback to the app, one of the users of last year, Atharva Bhope, a city-based automotive evangelist said, “I really liked the concept of how the important data was visualised and it really helped me a lot. All I had to do was just open the link and surf through the map. Though I feel the maps could’ve loaded faster, and should’ve been more user-friendly.” GeoSpoc is a GIS-based start-up founded by Pune-based Dhruva Rajan, who is also the Technical Director of the company.
