Pune, 12th June 2026: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has announced an alternate-day water supply schedule that will come into effect from June 15 as part of its water rationing measures.
The decision comes amid the need to manage available water resources more efficiently and ensure a balanced distribution of water across the city.
Under the new arrangement, the city's water distribution network has been divided into two groups. One group will receive water supply on even dates of the month, while the other group will receive water on odd dates. The civic administration said the move is aimed at maintaining water availability for all areas during the current period of restricted supply.
PMC officials stated that the transition to the new system may take around a week to stabilize. During this period, residents may experience changes in water pressure and supply timings. The civic body has appealed to citizens to remain patient and cooperate while operational adjustments are carried out.
The PMC has advised residents to use water carefully, avoid unnecessary wastage and store adequate quantities for daily needs. Officials said the schedule may be reviewed and adjusted based on operational requirements and feedback received after implementation.
Citizens have been asked to verify which supply group their locality falls under and plan their water usage accordingly. The civic body said public cooperation will be crucial in ensuring the success of the alternate-day supply system and minimizing inconvenience during the water rationing period.
