Pune, 12th May 2026: A 61-year-old businessman from Salisbury Park in Pune was found dead in a hotel room on Apte Road on Saturday afternoon. The deceased has been identified as Ashok Milapchand Jain.
According to police, Jain had left home earlier and was unreachable for several hours. Concerned family members later approached the Swargate Police Station and filed a missing person complaint on Friday evening.
On Saturday afternoon, hotel staff informed Deccan Police Station after repeated attempts to contact the guest inside the room failed. Police rushed to the hotel and opened the room, where Jain was found dead.
Officials suspect that Jain consumed poison. Vomit marks were found at several places inside the room, and prima facie the case appears to be one of suicide.
Police also recovered a handwritten note from the room, which is believed to have been written by Jain. The contents of the note have not yet been disclosed.
Further investigation is being carried out by Deccan Police Station.
