PMPML’s Aapli PMPML app completed one year in August 2025, crossing 1.3 million downloads and generating ₹70.71 crore in digital ticket and pass sales.
Despite growth, only 8.33% of passengers use the app regularly compared to PMPML’s monthly average ridership of 3.5 crore.
Passengers appreciate convenience but point out glitches like live tracking failures, frequent updates, and missing features such as bus timetables and monthly passes.
Pune, 2nd September 2025: The Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) marked the first anniversary of its Aapli PMPML mobile app this August, with the digital platform showing steady growth in usage. Since its launch on August 15, 2024, the app has been downloaded by over 13.5 lakh commuters, generating nearly ₹70.71 crore in ticket and pass sales.
On average, PMPML records ₹5.5 crore in ticketing revenue through the app every month, with the highest collection of ₹9.40 crore in July 2025. Officials say the app was designed to provide online ticketing, digital passes, bus live location tracking, and grievance redressal to make public transport more passenger-friendly.
However, adoption remains relatively low. PMPML serves around 3.5 crore passengers every month and earns nearly ₹60 crore in revenue, but only 8.33% of commuters use the app for digital transactions. Officials admit that more awareness campaigns are needed to boost its reach.
For many passengers, the app has eased the hassle of carrying exact change and made travel planning more convenient. One commuter shared that while the app is useful, it still requires improvements.
PMPML’s chairman and managing director, Pankaj Deore, acknowledged existing issues and assured upgrades. He said the digital era demands such facilities, and technical glitches will soon be fixed to make the app more user-friendly.
Among the main complaints are irregular live bus tracking, frequent updates that interrupt ticketing, the need to clear cache or reinstall the app, the absence of bus timetables, and limited integration of buses into live tracking. Many users have also highlighted the unavailability of monthly pass options.
Despite these shortcomings, PMPML believes the app has reduced conductors’ workload and helped modernize ticketing. With further improvements, officials expect more commuters in Pune to embrace the digital shift.
