Pune: Anandghan, a special cultural event organized by Paranjape Schemes for senior residents of Athashri housing projects, was recently held, celebrating the artistic expression and vibrant spirit of elderly citizens. The event saw enthusiastic participation from over 168 senior residents, aged between 60 and 90+, who showcased their talents in music, dance, and theater, leaving the audience captivated.

Unlike a typical leisurely Sunday morning, Athashri was abuzz with excitement as senior residents eagerly prepared for their performances. Their energy and enthusiasm embodied the phrase "age is just a number." Performers in their sixties, seventies, and even nineties took to the stage, presenting a mesmerizing array of dance performances, musical renditions, and theatrical skits. Popular Bollywood classics such as "Shola Jo Bhadke," "Jara Hole Hole Chalo Mere Saajana," and "Tareef Kya Karoon" struck a nostalgic chord, while lively folk numbers like "Paaru Ga Paaru" and "Mee Haay Koli" added a regional charm. Additionally, a special medley of classic Hindi songs under the theme Bhule Bisre Geet transported the audience back in time.

The event also featured thought-provoking skits, including "Aamchya Bhavna Dukhavtat Ho" (Our Feelings Are Hurt), which encouraged reflection on the emotional well-being of the elderly. Among the many remarkable performances, two acts stood out—special showcases by residents over 90 years old. Their infectious energy and passion earned them a standing ovation, serving as a testament to the timeless nature of creativity and self-expression.

The event was graced by Shashank Paranjape, Managing Director of Paranjape Schemes, who attended in person to support and encourage the senior residents. Addressing the gathering, Mr. Paranjape shared fond memories of childhood cultural festivals, emphasizing the importance of creative expression at every stage of life. The event’s diverse performances reflected the strong sense of unity and camaraderie within the Athashri community, reaffirming that creativity knows no age.

Beyond being a celebration of talent, Anandghan underscored the importance of an active and fulfilling lifestyle for senior citizens. The event not only fostered a deep sense of belonging among Athashri’s residents but also strengthened family bonds and community appreciation for the elderly. It served as a powerful reminder that joy, creativity, and the love for life continue to thrive at any age.
