Pune: A shocking incident of gunfire disrupted the peace of the Chakan industrial area this morning when two men on a motorcycle fired at a company manager at Kailash Steel Enterprises, a small firm located in Varale, Khed Taluka. The incident occurred around 10:45 am near the company’s entrance.

The victim, identified as Ajit Vikram Singh (40), a resident of Hinjewadi, sustained bullet injuries to his back and abdomen. He was rushed to a private hospital in Chakan for emergency treatment.

Dr. Amol Benke, who attended to Singh, stated, “While preliminary treatment was provided, the bullets remain lodged in his body. Surgery is necessary, and he has been shifted to Jupiter Hospital in Pune for further care.”

According to police reports, Singh was standing at the company premises when two men approached on a motorcycle. One of the men opened fire, shooting two bullets that critically injured Singh. The attackers fled the scene immediately.

Senior police officers, including Deputy Commissioner of Police Dr. Shivaji Pawar, visited the site and initiated an investigation. Inspector Jitendra Kadam of the Crime Branch stated, “We are reviewing CCTV footage from inside and outside the company to identify the suspects. The motive is suspected to be a personal dispute, but further investigation is ongoing.”

The Chakan industrial estate has witnessed similar incidents in the past, with this being the fourth shooting in the last decade. Earlier incidents reportedly stemmed from contractor disputes and other disagreements.

Such repeated episodes have raised concerns among industrial workers, business owners, and company representatives about the safety and law enforcement in the area.
