Cleanliness Drive Conducted at Rajgad Fort Ahead of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti

Observing the deteriorating condition of restrooms and the risk of accidents at the fort, officials emphasized the need for deploying medical teams at Rajgad Fort and its base on weekends.

Pune: Ahead of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti, a cleanliness campaign was conducted at Rajgad Fort by the Rajgad and Bhor Taluka Revenue Department. The initiative, which took place on Friday, February 14, aimed to honor Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s legacy by preserving the historical fort’s cleanliness.

The birth anniversary of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, the founder of Hindavi Swarajya, is commemorated across India through various programs. As part of these celebrations, the Rajgad and Bhor Taluka Revenue Department organized a cleaning campaign at Rajgad Fort with the support of disaster management teams and Rajgad Taluka Press Association members.

The campaign commenced at 7:30 AM at Padmavati Temple on the fort, where officials, journalists, and volunteers gathered to initiate the cleanliness drive.

The event witnessed participation from several government officials, including:

  • Dr. Vikas Kharat, Sub-Divisional Officer, Bhor

  • Mahesh Harishchandre, Sub-Divisional Officer, Rajgad Taluka

  • Nivas Dhane, Tehsildar, Rajgad

  • Mayur Bansode, Naib Tehsildar

  • Uttam Bade, Election Naib Tehsildar

  • Arun Kadam, Resident Naib Tehsildar, Bhor

  • Ajinath Gajre, Revenue Naib Tehsildar

  • Aadesh Dhunakke, Election Naib Tehsildar

  • The cleaning drive covered various parts of Rajgad Fort, including:

  • Padmavati Temple and Mahadev Temple premises

  • Nearby drinking water tanks

  • Padmavati Lake and Amberkhana area

  • Rajsadar and Balekilla

During the campaign, 15 to 20 bags of waste, including plastic bottles, food wrappers, and paper, were collected and properly disposed of.

Need for Medical Facilities at Rajgad Fort

Observing the deteriorating condition of restrooms and the risk of accidents at the fort, officials emphasized the need for deploying medical teams at Rajgad Fort and its base on weekends. "Discussions will be held with the district collector to ensure necessary medical facilities are provided at the fort," stated Dr. Vikas Kharat, Sub-Divisional Officer, Bhor.

"It is the duty of every tourist and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj's admirer to ensure the fort remains clean and well-maintained. Public awareness is crucial in achieving this goal."
