Pune: Two policemen from the Daund Police Station were brutally attacked while responding to a domestic dispute at Alegaon Dhumalvasti in Daund taluka. The accused, identified as Kantilal Raghunath Bhokare and Ashok Raghunath Bhokare, allegedly assaulted the officers, dragging them down by their uniforms and beating them severely.
The incident occurred after the police received a distress call on the emergency helpline number 112 regarding a domestic altercation. Officers Nazir Gafurbhai Tamboli and Constable B.G. Yenare were dispatched to the location in a government vehicle to assess the situation.
Upon arrival, the accused confronted the officers, questioning their involvement in the dispute and verbally abusing them. The situation quickly escalated when Ashok Bhokare allegedly grabbed officer Tamboli by his uniform, threw him to the ground, and assaulted him with kicks and punches. Meanwhile, Kantilal Bhokare reportedly wielded an iron sickle and attempted to attack Constable Yenare.
Following the attack, Tamboli filed an official complaint at the Daund Police Station. A case was registered against the accused on March 13, and an investigation was launched under the supervision of Police Havaldar Mahendra Lohar.
The police arrested both suspects on the same day and presented them before the Daund court. The court has ordered their remand in police custody until March 15. Further investigations are ongoing.
