Elder Line 14567: Over 4 Lakh Senior Citizens in Maharashtra Benefit, 30000 Cases Resolved

The Elder Line service operates daily from 8 AM to 8 PM, except on three national holidays—January 26 (Republic Day), August 15 (Independence Day), and October 2 (Gandhi Jayanti).

Pune: The ‘Elder Line-14567’ national toll-free helpline, launched by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India, has been receiving a remarkable response from senior citizens facing various issues and seeking assistance. The helpline, designed to address complaints and provide support, has already catered to over 4 lakh elderly individuals across Maharashtra.

With more than 30000 cases successfully handled at the regional level, the helpline has proven to be a crucial resource in ensuring the safety, well-being, and dignity of senior citizens. Many elderly individuals have benefitted from the service, receiving both direct and indirect assistance in resolving their concerns.

The helpline is operated in Maharashtra through the collaborative efforts of the National Institute of Social Defence (NISD), the Department of Social Justice and Special Assistance, the Social Welfare Commissionerate of Maharashtra Government, and the Janseva Foundation, Pune. It plays a key role in offering immediate assistance and long-term solutions to the problems faced by the elderly population.

The helpline functions with the help of a dedicated connect center, field teams, various government departments, police administration, senior citizen organizations, NGOs, legal advisors, counselors, and volunteers. Their collective efforts ensure that senior citizens receive the necessary aid, guidance, and protection in times of need.

Helpline Available 362 Days a Year

Apart from handling complaints, the helpline provides valuable information on various aspects of elderly care, including health awareness, old-age homes, daycare centers, nutrition, cultural and artistic activities, and senior citizen-friendly products. It also offers guidance on legal matters and emotional support through counseling services.
