Pune: The land acquisition issue that delayed the construction of the Pashan-side ramp of the double-deck flyover at Acharya Anandrishiji Chowk near Savitribai Phule Pune University has been resolved.

The Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) has announced that the additional land required will be obtained from the Progressive Education Society's (PES) Modern College of Arts, Science & Commerce premises. The construction of the ramp is expected to be completed within three months after the land is handed over.

A key meeting took place involving officials from PMRDA, Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), and PES. The meeting was attended by PMC Road Department Head Aniruddha Pawaskar, PMRDA Commissioner Dr. Yogesh Mhase, PES Executive President Dr. Gajanan Ekbote, and Chief Engineer Rinaz Pathan, among others.

Approximately 4,000 square feet of land from Modern College is required for the project. The area currently accommodates the college’s botanical garden, canteen, and classrooms.

The botanical garden hosts a variety of indigenous and exotic plant species. To preserve these, PMRDA and PES have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to safely transplant the trees within the college premises.

Speaking with mediapersons, Dr. Gajanan Ekbote confirmed that coordination for land acquisition and compensation has been finalized. The details regarding compensation for the additional land will be submitted to PMRDA by January 27. Alongside, the high-voltage power line passing through the college will be relocated.

Chief Engineer Rinaz Pathan stated, “The PMC will widen the road and install iron barriers to facilitate ramp construction. Work will begin immediately, and the ramp will be completed within three months.”

The PMRDA assured that every step, including transplantation of plants and relocation of essential infrastructure, will be executed promptly to meet the deadline.
